Terwijl in New York de mode wordt gevierd tijdens NYFW, was het maandagnacht ook groot feest voor de sterren aan de andere kant van het land. In Los Angeles werden de belangrijkste televisieprijzen uitgereikt tijdens de Emmy Awards 2022.

Emmy Awards 2022

De 74ste editie van de Emmy Awards gaf ons een aantal flashbacks naar voorgaande jaren: Apple TV’s Ted Lasso won opnieuw de prijs voor de beste comedyserie en Zendaya werd weer bekroond als beste actrice in een dramaserie. Toch waren er ook een aantal ‘eerste keren’. Lee Jung-jae won voor zijn rol in Squid Game als eerste Aziatische acteur de prijs voor beste hoofdrolspeler in een dramaserie. Ook sleepte Lizzo haar eerste Emmy in de wacht.

Na het ontvangen van meerdere nominaties, kwam de cast van Only Murders in the Building van een koude kermis thuis. De serie die door Selena Gomez is geproduceerd, wist maar één beeldje mee te nemen. Grote winnaar van de avond was The White Lotus. Onder anderen Jennifer Coolidge, Murray Bartlett en schrijver Mike White wonnen een Emmy voor hun aandeel in de serie. Voor HBO/HBO Max betekende dit ook een fantastische avond: het platform won 38 Emmy’s in totaal, het dubbele van hun winst in 2021.
